Methodist Health receives a dozen KSHPRM Thoroughbred Awards

Methodist Health (formerly Methodist Hospital) was recently recognized with 12 Kentucky Society for Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing (KSHPRM) Awards. The awards were presented to Brandi Ponsler, MPA, Marketing Manager, Methodist Health, at the KSHPRM annual Fall Conference held on November 15 in Versailles, KY.

The Thoroughbred Awards competition is sponsored by KSHPRM and the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) and is open to all marketing/public relations professionals in a healthcare setting. The 2019 competition was designed to recognize marketing/public relations professionals who achieved excellence in projects ranging from public relations and multimedia programs to advertising and fundraising between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. A total of 113 entries were submitted into the competition.

Methodist Health received the following awards.

Thoroughbred Awards

  • Community Relations /Community Service: Patient /Public education initiative - “Bereavement Boxes”
  • Media Relations: Earned media placement in/on a bona fide print, broadcast or online news outlet - “Bereavement Boxes”
  • Writing: Short - PR writing such as an article, news release or brochure up to 500 words - “National Cancer Survivors Day”
  • Overall Campaign: Internal or external communication program using traditional and digital components under $25,000 - “It’s a New Day”
  • Publication: Outdoor (billboard or transit) - “It’s a New Day”

Certificate of Merit Awards

  • Website: Social media content such as Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn - “2018 Year in Review”
  • Print Advertising: Single ad - “It’s a New Day”
  • Radio Advertising: Single :30 spot - “It’s a New Day”
  • Community Relations /Community Service: Patient /Public education initiative - “National Cancer Survivors Day”

Judging criteria for entries included overall concept, design (technical quality), originality/creativity, implementation process (planning and execution of project) and overall impact (results).

KSHPRM is a group of public relations, marketing, physician recruiters/liaisons and development practitioners that represent Kentucky’s hospitals and healthcare related organizations. It is affiliated with both KHA and the American Hospital Association’s affiliated PR/Marketing society, the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD).
