Jayme Bostic - Spirit of Excellence - May 2018

Jayme Bostic, Endoscopy Technician, Endoscopy, has worked in her current position since April 19, 2009. She has been employed by Methodist Health since April 30, 1996, when she was hired as a Surgical Services Assistant.

Bostic and her husband have seven children (four were adopted) ranging in age from 29 down to four. Two are still at home.

The favorite part of her job is talking with patients to make them feel at ease. Her main duties are to assist the doctors during the procedures, which can include EGDs, colonoscopies, bronchoscopies and others. Bostic loves her job so much that she takes call every day. “I don’t mind coming in on my day off if there is a procedure that needs to be done,” she said. “My coworkers are a great group. I love coming to work every day and am so grateful to have a job like this!”

Comments by her nominator:

“She always gives exceptional care whether it be to our patients or to her own coworkers. She sees our patients right before they are put to sleep when they are at their most vulnerable but she always manages to put them at ease. She definitely goes above and beyond.”

“She shows compassion for our patients by always trying to relate to them. She always introduces herself to the patient and then inquires about them and their family. She will almost always tell them something about herself as well. She takes the time to show the patient she cares about them as a person and not just as a procedure.”

“She is such an asset to not only our department but to our doctors. She is a good listener, is always very respectful to the doctors and is so confident in her job as the endoscopy tech. The doctors frequently request her to be at their side for a procedure. She is excellent at knowing what they need before they know what they need. Endo simply couldn’t run without her. She takes more than her fair share of call so the nurses don’t have to take nearly as much as they would.”
