Methodist Hospital Prevention and Wellness Services will offer Plan To
Be Tobacco Free, a new Kentucky Cancer Program initiative to assist thousands
of Kentuckians to be tobacco free, on Thursday, July 25. The free program
will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. and again from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at
Prevention and Wellness Services located at 110 Second Street in downtown
Plan To Be Tobacco Free is designed to help Kentuckians learn which smoking
cessation programs are available and assist them with deciding which option
is best for them. The one-time class is conducted by Kentucky Cancer Program
Tobacco Treatment Navigators at worksites and in community locations for
individuals who use tobacco, their friends and family. Participants will
learn about tobacco cessation products, assess personal habits and develop
a customized quit plan.
The program may be offered as a one-time, one-hour class or it can also
be a 15-minute one-on-one session in person or over the phone. Eighteen
nurses, coordinators and case managers throughout the Methodist Hospital
facility have completed training as facilitators and can then refer individuals
to Prevention and Wellness Services for the Freedom From Smoking® program.
