Judy Hudgions has worked in Centralized Scheduling, Scheduling/Registration
Clerk in Registration/Financial Services since June 11, 2001, but her
tenure with Methodist Hospital began much earlier, on October 22, 1979,
when she was hired as a temporary worker and then moved into a Unit Secretary
position for Nursing Services. She held several positions in Fiscal Services
and was the Unit Secretary on the Medical Unit and Pediatrics before first
assuming the position she holds now in Centralized Scheduling in 1994.
In 2000, she moved to the Emergency Department, working nights as a Registration
Specialist while attending Ivy Tech Community College to become an LPN.
After graduating in 2001, she returned to Fiscal Services and several
months later assumed the position she holds today.
Her duties include scheduling all types of outpatient testing, including
radiology and cardiopulmonary. “I like talking to the patients,”
she said, “going over their preps and doing pre-certifications for
insurance and doctor verifications, when needed.”
As a long-term employee with nearly 40 years of tenure here, Hudgions has
seen a lot of changes. “Methodist Hospital is a good place to work,”
she continued. “I’ve been offered other jobs but I enjoy my
job and choose to stay here. It’s like home and coworkers have become
like family.” Her two sisters work at Methodist Hospital, too —
Joy Hudgions in Childcare and Janet Schmitt in OB.
Judy is a lifelong Henderson resident. She has two sons, a daughter and
one grandson with another on the way. Receiving the Spirit of Excellence
award left her “speechless and stunned.” Hudgion said, “I
am appreciative of the honor. I really try to do a good job so it’s
nice to be recognized.”
Comments by her nominators:
“Centralized Scheduling requires much knowledge of procedures for
various patients. She handles many calls a day with class and compassion.
Judy has been an asset to Methodist Hospital for almost 40 years. She
is very deserving of the Spirit of Excellence award.”
“She is kind and compassionate from the first patient in the day
to the last.”
“Judy is a good listener and understands everything about scheduling.
She is definitely an asset to this Hospital. After all, almost 40 years
of experience is a very dedicated employee.”
