Methodist Hospital, a member of the UK Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network,
will host a National Cancer Survivors Day® Hawaiian Luau on Sunday, June 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Classrooms 1-3 on the
ground floor of the Hospital. The international celebration is in its
Sponsored by Methodist Hospital Hematology and Oncology, the event will
include games, door prizes, entertainment and Hawaiian luau themed foods.
The UK Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network will co-sponsor a health
fair including sun safety and skin cancer education as well as Fecal Immunochemical
Test distribution and colon cancer education.
“Methodist Hospital and its staff would like to recognize all those
in our community whose lives have been touched by cancer, whether through
a personal diagnosis or caring for a loved one through their survivorship
journey,” said Sarah Smith, MSN, RN, OCN, Oncology Nurse Navigator
at Methodist Hospital. “This day gives us all the opportunity to
join together to honor those touched by cancer, to raise awareness of
cancer prevention and to reach out to those who are facing the ongoing
challenges of cancer survivorship.”
