National Nutrition Month® 2018, an annual celebration created by the
Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, will be recognized at Methodist Hospital
in Henderson during the month of March in several ways.
A healthy special will be featured each Wednesday in March in the Methodist
Hospital Cafeteria for $3.99.
Week 1, March 7 (Lunch): Grab and Go Salads (Choice of: apple/chicken salad,
strawberry/chicken salad, and a Mexican salad)
Week 2, March 14 (Lunch): Reuben sandwiches with cabbage soup
Week 3, March 21 (Lunch): Wraps with a side (smashed avocado or sauerkraut salad)
Week 4, March 28 (Breakfast): Omelet Day - healthy choice omelet with fresh
fruit or whole grain muffin
Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10 a.m. and lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A food drive will also be held throughout the month to benefit Henderson
Christian Community Outreach. Employees and others dining in the Cafeteria
are asked to donate nonperishable food items. Each time they bring an
item, they will be entered in a weekly drawing. Five names per week will
be drawn for a $5 gift card to be used in the Hospital Cafeteria.
Suggested food items include boxed or canned juices, boxed macaroni and
cheese, peanut butter, cereal, canned or shelf stable vegetables, canned
shelf stable fruit, jarred or canned spaghetti sauce and pasta.
The National Nutrition Month® campaign focuses on the importance of
making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical

or fueling before an athletic event, the foods you choose can make a real
difference. This year’s theme, ‘Go Further with Food,’
encourages us to prepare your foods to go further, by planning meals and
snacks in advance, which can also help to reduce food loss and waste.”
