Kelly Jenkins, MSN, RN, Director of Nursing Operations, Quality, Magnet
Program Director, Methodist Hospital, has been elected President of the
Kentucky Board of Nursing. Jenkins is completing her second four-year
term as a board member, representing the Kentucky Organization of Nurse
She is also Past Director of the Twin Lakes District for the KONL prior
to becoming the Kentucky Board of Nursing representative.
“I am both honored and humbled to assume my role as President of
the Kentucky Board of Nursing,” noted Jenkins. “I am committed
to ensuring safe nursing practice amid today’s complex and challenging
health care climate.”
The Nurse Practice Act governs the Kentucky Board of Nursing, an agency
of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Its mission is to protect public well
being by developing and enforcing state laws for the safe practice of
nursing. There are 16 board members consisting of educators and practicing
APRN’s, RN’s, LPN’s and consumers.
The Board of Nursing sets standards for nursing programs and licensure
and provides oversight for 88,210 licensed nurses in the Commonwealth,
including being responsible for taking disciplinary action against nurses
who do not adhere to state nursing laws.
