Kristi West, RN, Supply Chain/Value Analysis Manager, Union County Materials
Management, began her career at Methodist Hospital in Henderson on January
2, 1992, as a Nurse Assistant on the Medical Unit.
She completed an associate’s degree in Nursing from Henderson Community
College in 1994 and was employed as an RN in Surgical Services for the
next 12 years. She worked in the Operating Room as a circulating nurse
for most of that time but later transitioned to a specialties coordinator
role. West assumed the position of Supply Chain Manager in Materials Management
in 2006. She continued her education as well, earning a bachelor’s
degree in business management from Mid-Continent University in 2007.
In August 2016, West transferred to Methodist Hospital Union County. While
continuing in her role as Supply Chain Manager, her duties have changed
over the years. “Four years ago, the title of Value Analysis Manager
was added,” she said. “Today, I usually spend one day a week
at the Henderson campus. I evaluate clinical supplies offered through
our group purchasing organization contracts to find the best quality and
price for supplies used on both campuses.”
“Now that my primary location is at Methodist Hospital Union County,”
she continued, “my role has expanded to supervise the daily operations
in Materials Management here.” Two part-time employees share the
work of refilling the Omnicell inventories and ordering, receiving and
issuing items from the storeroom. “I could not do my job without
them,” West added.
After 25 years of employment, West noted receiving the Spirit of Excellence
brought her to tears. “I was very honored and surprised and couldn’t
stop saying thank you. It’s nice to know you’re appreciated.”
COMMENTS FROM HER NOMINATOR
“She goes above and beyond to make sure all departments are taken
care of. She is a fabulous leader and anyone who has worked beside her
will know what I mean. She has saved the hospital several thousands of
dollars in the short while she has been here. She wants the best for the
patients also by watching costs. I believe this nominee is one of MHUC’s
top employees. She is a great role model to anyone in the healthcare profession.
Kristi has no problem living out the Methodist mission as well as exceeding
the Standards of Behavior here. She cares for her staff and their families
and would do the same for a complete stranger."
