In response to the increase of Influenza in the community, Methodist Hospital
is taking extra precautions to ensure the continued health and safety
of our patients by implementing a unified visitor restriction process.
The restrictions include:
- No visitors with Influenza-like symptoms. These include cough, sore throat,
fever, chills, aches, runny or stuffy nose, and vomiting or diarrhea.
- No visitors under the age of 15 years.
- No visitors other than immediate family, or significant persons as defined
by the patient.
These restrictions were developed using recommendations from the Health
Department and the Community Patient Safety Coalition. Exceptions may
be made for cases involving critically ill patients and end of life situations.
Hand sanitizer is important in preventing the spread of Influenza and is
located at multiple areas throughout the Hospital. Hand hygiene should
be utilized by anyone entering or leaving a patient room.
Since Influenza can cause serious complications, Methodist Hospital is
taking these measures to protect patients, visitors and staff members.
